You're already controlling the menu,
doofus. So...
$°±²Û "ChickenWire"? What in the Heck?!
Well, you must have knowingly downloaded
this in order to run it on your computer,
unless you've suddenly come to after a
long sleep, and have found yourself
strapped into a stranger's computer chair
against your will and are now forced to
play this game. Moreover, if you're
playing this you probably know me, or know
someone else who does. But, since you
ask... ChickenWire is kind of a mind-
doodle of a ZZT game, a place where I
shove weird, cool stuff I thought was
amusing into a series of boards that the
unwary can play through. It's a huge waste
of time, basically. Also, I rip off Darren
Hewer a lot in it (not just Darkness and
Rangest, either; the borders are straight
out of _Death_). Nonetheless, I am fond of
it, and regard it as one of the most
enduring games I've made in ZZT.
Every so often, I remake it. For the
historians among you, v1.5 and v1.8 are
available on z2, though I don't really
recommend getting anything other than the
most recent version because I think some
of the jokes in the older versions are
stupid.

won't hurt.
There have been several previous releases
of CW. The first one, v1.0, was quickly
superceded by v1.2, which was released
under Interactive Fantasies in 1999. Later
on I released v1.5, under the Lame Game
label in 2000, and v1.8 was released under
Eagle Rock Interactive in 2001. v1.2 is
not available on z2, but you're not
missing much, trust me.
So why a new version now? Well, about a
month or so ago, nuero released a new
game, "crash landing", and I redownloaded
ZZT, having been in Poland for the past
eight months without it, and played it. I
also downloaded a bunch of other ZZT games
and played them too. Nostalgia set in, as
it does when you return to things you had
pretty much written off as in the past,
and there was a particularly dull holiday
over the first week of May, so I kind of
got sucked into making a new version of
this! AND NOW YOU KNOW
